This week we have just gotten in the Big Mouth Bubbler (available in both glass and plastic and in 6½ and 5 gallon sizes) carboy, and boy does it have a BIG mouth! It comes with a screw top lid that sports a capable screw-in bung and can be used as an airlock to make a complete system. Why the big mouth you ask? Simple: it makes getting dry hops in and out pain-free, and allows for the use of wood without fear of swelling that occurs. It also makes cleaning and sanitizing a breeze!
New Books: Experimental Homebrewing by Drew Beechum and Denny Conn just arrived. This book takes off where Extreme Brewing, and Radical Brewing left off. This book provides a structure upon which to build your Frankenstein beer. It’s alive!
Also in is the new book “American Sour Beers”, by Michael Tonsmeire. It covers not only the innovative techniques for mixed fermentations, but the history, ingredients, methods, and brewing techniques in the production of American sour beers. Loaded with tons of information about using mixed cultures, this book will earn a place in your library if you are a fan of sour beers.
