Scientists at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland have found living micro-organisms contained within a shipment of beer that had sunk off the Åland Islands in 2010 from the 1840’s. What’s even more amazing is that Åland-based brewery Stallhagen have started trials to replicate the beer that was in the hold of the shipwreck! You can’t go much further than this to try and secure rare and exotic micro-flora to make a batch of beer these days. No notice was given when the beer would be available for consumption however. Good luck with brewing up this beer! This recalls the beer that was made in a similar fashion from a shipwreck in the Irish sea, namely Flag Porter. Now there’s treasure for you mates!
